Health and holidays!

Health and Holidays!

These are my take home points after a week long family holiday. My tips for saying semi healthy, while still enjoying yourself and having fun!

  1. Pre plan more! In terms of food. We should have had a lot more fruit and vegetable with us &pre cooked things like mini quiche and sausage rolls. We haven’t eaten “bad”, we could have had more variety&saved money if we were more prepped. It is easy to do a shop before you go, and take as much fresh fruit and vege and foods you would normally eat is fabulous if you can! Think about what fridge space etc you have once you are there.

  2. You can exercise on holiday! Pack you joggers and active wear. Your body often enjoys the change of routine, so do something a little different to what you normally would. I’ve still run &done alot more walking &swimming then normal. My body has loved being in the water, as has my mind!I’m also ready to get back to my normal routine! If you get some exercise and movement in, you will feel much better in both your body and mind. Also take the time to stretch, and take it slow. Do those exercises you Chiropractor has told you to do that you don’t find time for regularly enough at home. Get into the habit now, and take the habit home with you!

  3. Listen to your body! It’s been a reminder in why I don’t eat a lot of wheat. I’ve had so much bread and rolls and I’m feeling it. Bloated.Flat.Sluggish. More than I normally would be.That’s what wheat does to me.This has been a good reminder of that! Also with the kids eating less than ideal foods,& the changes in their behaviour it’s a good reminder of why we do the best we can with it at home

  4. That I’m really not as busy as I make myself out to be sometimes at home  there are the same amount of hours in the day on holiday, as there is in Perth, yet I’ve slept, exercised, read my book, play grounded, skate parked, beached, swum and more ….all by lunchtime  time to reassess,(and outsource!) where my time goes  This tip isn’t about what we do on holidays, but the lessons we can learn and apply when we get home

  5. Sleep is key! Holidays are great for early nights! For letting your body rest and recuperate! Remember that your body heals and recovers when you rest, so take the time to have some early nights, and maybe even a nap!

  6. Staying hydrated with water is easy, and important. Your body will thank you

  7. I love the beach, it’s good for my mind & soul. I knew that. This was just a reminder to do it more. Holidays are great for reminding you what you love and what your body loves. Take stock, and listen!

So to sum up. Holidays aren’t “bad” food. They aren’t going to make you fat from no exercise for a week. They are good for the soul. The change in routine. Breaking habits. Forming new ones.

And realising, that home is just as amazing as a holiday. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved this holiday so much. But I also love home. I access to amazing fresh food. I ♥️access to the gym&backyard to workout in the middle of the day. I love my books&my business. I need to find time a little more.

I learnt alot this holidays – things to do at home, and things to do on holidays to make them more healthy.

But life is pretty damn good & while I am not 100% healthy at home, I do the best I can, for me&the family, & that is damn well good enough!!

It’s not about being perfect.

It is the simple things, that are significant

Like Blu berries that don’t cost $9 a punnet!
